Mini Course

  •  Length of course – 4 hours. Can be held on weekends or multiple evenings.
  • There are two payment models that hosts can choose from:
    • Student pays Alberta Soccer directly – $28.88 per student* (all ages). The district is not invoiced, but is responsible for all facility fees etc. Students will be automatically approved on payment
    • Student pays Course Host. Alberta Soccer will invoice the district $28.88 per student* (all ages). Students will be manually approved by the course host. The host is responsible for all facility fees etc., and may set their own price for the course based on this.
  • Facilities required – classroom or meeting room and gymnasium or field. Field or gym time is 2 hours,
    Minimum numbers – 10 students in the following centres – Edmonton and surrounding, Calgary and surrounding,
    Lethbridge, Red Deer.
    6 students in all other centres.
  • Maximum numbers – 25 students, but also based on your facility restrictions.
  • Time frames – mostly held in mid-March to mid-May, but can be held at other times.
  • Note – as of 2017, the host must provide a person to administer check-in and registration of students at the start of the course. This is to prevent unregistered ‘walk-ins’, which have occured in the past.

Entry Level Referee Course

  • Can be held on weekends, multiple weekends or multiple evenings. The course has 4 main components.
    • Online modules in Refcentre, released to students when they are approved.
    • Classroom session with Alberta Soccer instructors (3 hours)
    • Practical onfield training session (3 hours)
    • Online Laws of the Game exam, released to students once they have attended class and field sessions
  • There are two payment models that hosts can choose from:

    • Student pays Course Host. Alberta Soccer will invoice the district $141.75per student* (all ages). Students will be manually approved by the course host. The host is responsible for all facility fees etc., and may set their own price for the course based on this.
    • Facilities required –
      For the class session – tables and chairs must be provided for all students. A table at the front of the room must be provided for the instructor along with a screen or blank light colored wall for projection.
      For the onfield practical session, the host will need to provide a suitable indoor facility for practical training (indoor field, fieldhouse, gym etc.) The facility must be booked for 3 hours. Indoor is needed so that the practical session can go ahead, regardless of the weather conditions outside.
  • Minimum numbers – 10 students in the following centres – Edmonton and surrounding, Calgary and surrounding, Lethbridge, Red Deer.
    6 students in all other centres.
  • Maximum numbers – 25 students maximum for all components.
  • Time frames – mostly held in mid-March to mid-May, but can be held at other times.

Refresher Courses (Outdoor and Indoor)

  • Length of course – 3 hours. Can be held on evenings or weekends
  • Cost of course – $110 + GST – flat rate per course. Invoiced to the District.
  • Facilities required – classroom or meeting room. Field sessions can be arranged by special request.
  • Minimum numbers – 10 students in the following centres – Edmonton and surrounding, Calgary and surrounding, Lethbridge, Red Deer.
    6 students in all other centres.
  • Maximum numbers – 50 students, but also based on your facility restrictions.
  • Time frames – mostly held in mid-March to mid-May for outdoor, mid-September to mid-November for indoor, but can be held at other times.

Conversion Courses (Boarded Soccer & Futsal)

  • Length of course – 6 hours
  • Cost of course – $150 + GST – flat rate per course, invoiced to the district
  • Facilities required – classroom or meeting room and gymnasium or field. Preferred gymnasium or field time is 1 hour
  • Minimum numbers – 10 students in the following centres – Edmonton and surrounding, Calgary and surrounding, Lethbridge, Red Deer.
    6 students in all other centres.
  • Maximum numbers – 35 students, but also based on your facility restrictions.
  • Time frames – mostly held mid-September to mid-November, but can be held at other times.
