Special Meeting of Members Update
December 9, 2025
The Special Meeting of the Members scheduled for December 9, 2025, WILL not go ahead.
As the ASA Board of Directors informed members last Friday, December 5th, EMSA, St. Albert, Battle River, and Calgary Women’s (the “Litigants”) served the ASA last Friday with a legal application seeking to postpone the Special General Meeting and reinstate Mr. Figueiredo as President.
At a Court session held in the Court of Kings Bench earlier today in Edmonton, an agreement between the ASA and the Litigants’ legal counsel was reached with the following effect:
- The Special Meeting of the Members will not be going ahead tonight and will be adjourned until after a future hearing of the Litigant’s application has been held before a judge in special chambers;
- Mr. Figueiredo will remain suspended until the hearing of the matter.
The Litigant’s application has been adjourned without a fixed date set as of yet for the hearing. The next available court dates are in May, 2026.
No relief was obtained by the Litigants against ASA in Court today.
ASA remains committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace, and we will keep the membership informed as further information becomes available.
