Soccer Parent of the Month

soocer-parentBrought to you by COBS Bread and Alberta Soccer.

We know that for every dedicated soccer player out there, there is a dedicated soccer parent cheering them on from the sideline. Do you go above and beyond to make sure your child gets the support they deserve while playing soccer? COBS Bread and Alberta Soccer are hosting a Soccer Parent of the Month contest in recognition of parents who positively contribute to their child’s involvement in soccer, which includes eating well as part of a healthy soccer lifestyle.

Enter this contest or nominate someone you know by the 25th of each month and one individual will have a chance win a prize pack containing: COBS Bread prize pack, an Alberta Soccer Tote Bag, a ‘Proud Soccer Parent’ T-Shirt and a mini soccer ball.

October Winner

Meet the latest Soccer Parent of the Month: Melissa Pope, Calgary, AB

Melissa’s favourite COBS bread recipe is the Almond Butter Crunch

As a current skills trainer and coach for Calglen soccer, I have had the pleasure of working with Melissa over the past few years. I have become increasingly inspired by the amount of support she displays for her two children who both play at the U16 level, but also by the amount of work and time she invests as one of two volunteer Vice Presidents of the club. Not only is she committed to ensuring that her children have, and continue to have, a positive soccer experience, she is committed to ensuring that every single player in the club is valued. In addition to being an event planner during the day, she spends countless hours helping answer coach’s questions, organizing balanced teams, running evaluations, developing program structures, and stepping in as needed as a “back up back up” coach so that all kids can have an opportunity to learn and grow in an open and encouraging environment. She is a true role model, in every sense of the word, to both players and parents alike.  Thank you Melissa for all of your hard work, not only for supporting your own kids, but for supporting all members of the club!

Congratulations on behalf of COBS Bread and Alberta Soccer, Melissa!
