(September 3, 2019) Over the weekend, Edmonton and Calgary welcomed nearly 1,500 players and coaches to the 2019 Senior Provincial Championship competitions. Hosted by EDSA, CUSA, and CWSA, the Championships featured top senior teams from across Alberta throughout the unseasonably cool September long weekend.
Of the 13 competitions hosted between August 31-September 2, 4 featured the opportunity for teams to qualify for National Competitions:
- Jubilee Shield: Edmonton Northwest United will compete at the 2019 Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships, in St John’s, NL, following up on their previous performances in 2008 and 2016.
- Challenge Cup: Edmonton Scottish will return to Nationals after previously qualifying eight times between 1979 and 2018.
- Classics Major: Alliance O30 topped their group and earned a spot at the Canada Soccer Masters – Women’s Regional Club Championships in Quebec City, Quebec from September 19-22.
- Masters Major: Scottish Masters earned gold and will travel to Regina, Saskatchewan for the Canada Soccer Western Men’s Masters Club Championships
