(September 24, 2019) Alberta Soccer is pleased to announce the players and coaching staff who will participate in the 2019/20 Alberta REX (ABREX) Program cycle. The ABREX program is the pathway to Canadian Youth National Teams and identification for Canada’s Women’s National team. The players are immersed in a “best with best” environment, which sees the tactical and cultural framework from Canadian National teams featured daily in training.
“We look forward to working with these talented players over the course of this cycle. The demands and standards will be high as we prepare Alberta players for the next step on their journeys,” said Jordan Stewart, Alberta Soccer Regional Coach – South and ABREX Director. “We have some very skilled players from across the province who we are excited to work with and develop.”

Katelyn is a National B Licensed coach. She grew up playing through the Calgary Foothills club and won back-to-back National Championships in ’07 & ’08. From there, she accepted a full-ride scholarship at Eastern Kentucky University. Katie has been the Assistant Coach at St. Francis Xavier University, the Director of Performance Soccer at Halifax County United Soccer club, and a staff coach for the Nova Scotia REX program while coaching multiple provincial teams. She is currently working for the Calgary Foothills Soccer Club and is an Assistant Coach at the University of Calgary.
Chris started coaching in 2006 at the University of Dundee and has since continued his coaching career in North America. Before his role as a coach, Chris had a playing career that included playing in the East of Scotland Premier Division with Blairgowrie and in the national leagues in Scotland for Downfield and Lochee Harp. He previously coached with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Mount Royal University, University of Northern British Columbia and was recently the Head Coach of the boys Team Alberta squad at the 2019 Canada Western Summer Games. Chris’s coaching qualifications include a Canadian National B License, NCCP Coach Developer, USSF C license, and he is also currently studying his Canadian National Children’s License and his United States Soccer Federation National B License.
Franc Cioffi will be one of the Assistant Coaches for the ABSREX Program, while working as the Technical Director of Alberta Soccer. Franc possesses a USSF A License and has previously been involved with Alberta Soccer as a Girls Provincial Team coach and a coach education Learning Facilitator. He has coached high-performance teams across Canada and the US, most recently working in the Foothills Soccer Boys Generation Program. Previously, Franc was a coach for the 2016 and 2018 Alberta Summer Games girl’s teams, and while in the US, he coached at clubs such as Eastside FC, Washington Crossfire, as well as in the State Olympic Development Program (ODP).
Jordan is a former Canadian U20 International who played as a Professional Goalkeeper for Cardiff City FC and SC Veendam. Jordan’s goalkeeping coaching roles have included Lead Academy Goalkeeper Coach in the Youth Development Phase for West Ham United. His duties at West Ham United involved developing U8-U21 goalkeepers on a daily basis and coaching First Team Goalkeepers Jussi Jääskeläinen and Adrián a number of times throughout the 2013-2014 Premier League season. Jordan was instrumental in developing two young goalkeepers into England Youth Internationals at the U15 and U18 age groups during his time at West Ham United. Since moving back to Calgary in 2014, Jordan has helped develop USA Youth International Goalkeeper, Chituru Odunze, and has sent over 20 goalkeepers to Universities across Canada & the United States. He is currently the First Team Goalkeeper Coach with Cavalry FC in the Canadian Premier League, and recently saw Marco Carducci get called into the Canadian Men’s National Team.
Jordyn (Jo) Pratt will be the Developmental Goalkeeper Coach for the ABSREX Program for the 2019/20 cycle, after having been part of ABREX for the past two cycles. Jo also helped work with the Winter Training Program goalkeepers in the 2018/19 program cycle and was part of the Western Canada Summer Games Trials under the guidance of Tania Singfield, of Canada Soccer. In 2020, Jo will attend and play for St.Francis Xavier University.
Paul is Canada Soccer National B Trained and has also been working through the Canada Soccer Children’s License. He’s been heavily involved in the Alberta Soccer community, coaching and playing with various clubs within Calgary and working with the Provincial Team boys program over the past two cycles, both as a Head Coach and Developmental Coach.
Jessica has been coaching from the Grassroots level up to the Collegiate Level for the past six years. She recently completed the Canada Soccer Children’s Licence as well as her Provincial B Licence. Jessica played four years at the Collegiate Level and was ACAC All-Conference player & Captain during her playing years. Currently, Jessica is the assistant coach of the SAIT Women’s Team.
Christian currently holds a Canadian Provincial B Licence and a Pro License from ATFA – Asociación de Téchnicos del Fútbol Argentino (Argentinian Federation). He has concluded his National Coaching Certification Program Multi-sport Training (NCCP) and currently he is completing the FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine. With a diploma as a Computer Technician, he is working towards his Analyst of Performance in Video Analysis approved by ATFA. Before being involved as a coach, he played as professional soccer player in South America in the second division. He has coached with two soccer communities programs in Calgary and camps in the Calgary region.

Shaun is a former professional player and member of the Canadian Men’s National Team. He holds a Canada Soccer A Licence coaching certification, and has a vast coaching history across all levels of the game, from the national to youth amateur levels. Shaun is the former Technical Director and current Executive Director of Alberta Soccer.
Matt currently holds his UEFA A Licence, USSF A Licence, Canada Soccer A Licence, USSF Director Of Coaching, USSF Youth License, Coerver Youth License, and is also a Master Coach Developer. Prior to going into coaching/educating, Matt played for Walsall FC, Aston Villa, and Sheffield Wednesday. He has lived in nine different countries whilst working for professional clubs such as Walsall FC, Barnsley FC, Sheffield Wednesday and FC Nantes in France. Currently, Matt is the Manager of Coach Education for Alberta Soccer.
Carole holds a National B License Award with Canada Soccer and has been involved with soccer both as a coach and player in Alberta, Ontario and England for over 25 years. As a player, Carole represented Alberta at various levels (U16, U18, U23) and was identified as a player for the Canadian Women’s Soccer Team in 1995. She played for the Grant MacEwan Griffins (1994) and the University of Alberta Pandas (1997-99), winning CIS gold in 1997 and CIS Silver in 2000. She also played for the Edmonton Angels Soccer Club (Alberta Major Soccer League) for 10 years, winning the Jubilee Shield (Club National Championship) in 1995, 1999 and 2000. Carole began coaching in 1994 and has worked extensively with elite junior and senior players aged 15-25 years. She is the current Head Coach for the NAIT Ooks Women’s Soccer Team and won CCAA Coach of the Year in 2018.
Kristyn is entering her 3rd year on staff with the Alberta REX Program after representing Alberta as an Assistant Coach at the 2019 Western Canada Games (gold) and as a coach in the Provincial Team Program from 2015-2019 (Head Coach ’17-’19). She also coaches with the University of Alberta Pandas Soccer Program (since ’17) and Junior Pandas Program (since ’16; head coach since ’18). Prior to that, she was an Assistant Coach at Concordia University of Edmonton from 2013-2017. Kristyn grew up playing in the Edmonton area, participated in the 2000 and 2002 Alberta Summer Games and represented Alberta as a member of the Provincial Team (4 years) and at the 2005 Canada Summer Games (silver). She played in the NCAA Division I, for the University of Montana and University of Hawaii, while pursuing her degree in Business Management and Marketing. Current member of Victoria AMSL team (four-time Jubilee Shield winner). Krystin holds a National B Licence (Trained), is an Alberta Learning Facilitator, and member of Alberta Soccer Women in Sports Leadership Group.
Armando started playing in Mexico as goalkeeper for the Professional Soccer team, Leon FC. He currently holds the Canada Soccer National B-License (trained) and the NSCAA/USC Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma coaching Licences. Armando also works for the University of Alberta Pandas and for the SW Edmonton Minor Soccer Association (SWEMSA) as the Goalkeeper Director for their community teams and the South West Sting FC Goalkeeper Director for the competitive teams.
Darren has been working with goalkeepers for over 30 years and is currently the Goalkeeping Director of the Sherwood Park District Soccer Association. Woloshen made his pro goalkeeping debut with the Vancouver 86ers in 1996. He worked with both the men’s and the women’s programs until 2002 and after taking a one-year hiatus, returned to the Whitecaps women’s team in 2004, the year in which the Whitecaps won the W-League Championship for the first time. Darren moved to Edmonton in 2013 and started working with FC Edmonton, training both the pro team and academy keepers. He spent time working with goalkeepers for teams in England (Plymouth Argyle) and Scotland (Dundee United) and as well as Canadian National Team Goalkeepers such as Stephanie Labbe, Erin MacLeod, Karina Leblanc and Taryn Swiatek. Darren has worked as a GK coach in the collegiate soccer world with Grant MacEwan University, the University of Alberta and University of the Fraser Valley. Darren also spent four years with the University of British Columbia Men’s program and five years with the Simon Fraser University Women’s program.
Dhee currently holds his Canada Soccer Children’s License (Trained), and Provincial B Licence. He is currently the Sherwood Park District Soccer Association Community Director and Head Instructor of the Mount Carmel Soccer Academy. Previously, Dhee was worked with the NAIT Ooks Men’s Soccer team and the University of Alberta Pandas as an assistant coach. Growing up, Dhee played for Concordia University and in the Alberta Major Soccer League for Victoria and Ital.
Jeannie grew up playing club soccer in Edmonton and upon graduation from St. Francis Xavier high school, she took a break from competitive soccer to pursue her education at the U of A, where she obtained her Chartered Accountant designation. Jeannie joined the Alberta Soccer Board of Directors as the Rural Director while living and working in Rocky Mountain House in 2016. While there, she implemented and coordinated the grassroots program for three years. Jeannie and her husband coached the Rocky Knights U16-U19 girls for 4 seasons and helped put together a district-wide developmental “selects” team, which saw several of the players leave with college scholarships for soccer. In 2018, Jeannie followed her passion for soccer to Fort McMurray, where she competed on the Keyano College Women’s soccer team. She is now pursuing her coaching certifications and playing with Scottish Angels, while working at Alberta Soccer as the Competitions Coordinator.
