Alberta Soccer Announces Final Roster for 2025 Canada Summer Games Teams

Edmonton, AB – Alberta Soccer proudly announces the final rosters for the girls and boys soccer teams representing Alberta at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Following an intense and highly competitive tryout process, eighteen (18) players have been selected for each roster, with an additional four (4) players invited as alternates.

The final selection process showcased the remarkable talent and commitment of athletes across the province. Over several months, players exhibited their skills, determination, and teamwork in a series of challenging sessions, culminating in the final tryouts this past weekend.

“The level of talent we witnessed made the selection process extremely challenging,” said Patrik Zimmermann, Sporting Director of Alberta Soccer. “It was tight right up until the very end, and every player should be proud of what they’ve accomplished. Reaching this stage is an achievement in itself. This highlights the strength of Alberta’s soccer community, the commitment of our clubs, and the exceptional development pathways we have established. We’re confident that the athletes selected will represent Alberta with distinction at the Games.”

The coaching staff echoed these sentiments, highlighting the depth of Alberta’s soccer talent: “What stood out was their technical skill, impressive game awareness, intentionality in their play, and ability to maintain possession under pressure. We’re excited to see how these players continue to grow and develop over the next few months, and we look forward to reconvening at our July camp to further build on these strong foundations.” Alesha Weicker-Pasternak, Head Coach of the Girls Team.

The talent on display throughout the weekend was exceptional. The players battled and gave their all, making it extremely difficult to pick the final 18. The coaching staff is proud of every player for their hard work and discipline and for showing the utmost respect to their teammates, coaches, and everyone involved in the game.” Kondeh Mansaray, Head Coach of the Boys Team

Alberta Soccer is immensely proud of the efforts of clubs across the province, which play a pivotal role in developing the players selected for the 2025 Canada Summer Games. The final roster showcases the diversity and depth of talent within Alberta’s soccer community, with athletes representing 10 different clubs. This variety highlights the strong commitment to excellence and collaboration across the province’s National Youth Club Licence clubs, which have been instrumental in nurturing young talent and preparing athletes for elite competition.

The teams will now embark on their journey to the 2025 Canada Summer Games with a training camp in Vancouver from July 2nd to July 7th, 2025, concentrating on tactical preparation and team building. Alternates will join the camp as part of the extended roster, gaining valuable experience while supporting the team.

Alberta Soccer extends its gratitude to all players, coaches, clubs, and families who have been part of this journey and is excited to cheer on Team Alberta as they compete on the national stage.
