Following the decision of Canada Soccer, input from relevant government agencies and medical experts, Alberta Soccer has made the difficult decision to immediately suspend all sanctioned soccer activities in the province until further notice.
Alberta Soccer sanctioned activities include but not limited to league games, play-off games, exhibition games, practices, camps, coach and game official education and team building activities etc. All travel permits that were approved prior to these latest developments are rescinded until further notice. Any teams currently out of Alberta will be required to adhere to the quarantine regulations of Alberta as well as the Government of Canada.
To ensure the health and safety of players, coaches, match officials and administrators, all Districts and their Member Clubs and Communities should communicate to their members that they will cease soccer operations indefinitely.
The offices of Alberta Soccer will be closed to the public during this period but staff will be available through email or phone to assist where necessary. Alberta Soccer will continue following the guidelines set forth by the public health authorities, government agencies and soccer’s governing bodies.
Regular updates to Member Districts will be issued as this trying situation unfolds moving forward.
