(December 6, 2018) For the past three years, Alberta Soccer has had the distinct pleasure of working with Jim Loughlin. Initially, Jim joined the Association as its Manager of Coach Education and most recently, he’s served as Alberta Soccer’s Director of Coach Education and Player Development.

Beginning in early 2019, Jim will start the next phase of his career, joining Canada Soccer as its Master Coach Developer.

“It’s a great opportunity to be added to the Canada Soccer Coach Education staff. I’m looking forward to working alongside my colleagues across the country to make coach education inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable,” said Jim Loughlin.

Looking Back “Jim Loughlin is a well-respected soccer leader in Canada and his departure is bittersweet for Alberta Soccer,” said Alberta Soccer Executive Director, Shaun Lowther. “Jim’s dedication to improving the Coaching Standards within Alberta and Canada Soccer is well recognized, but it is his interpersonal skills and the relationships he cultivates that sets him apart.”

Since Jim began coaching, he’s been elevating the levels of coaching within sport and influencing positive change in the process. He’s received multiple awards for his outstanding contributions: the Don Watts Coach Developer Award from Alberta Sport connection for his “tremendous impact” in developing Alberta coaches, the Coaching Excellence Across all ACAC Sports Award, and the ACAC Coach of the Year Award (seven times!).

Looking Ahead Alberta Soccer is grateful for the impact Jim has made in the province and is pleased to know that his influence will continue in Alberta and the rest of the country as a result of his role with Canada Soccer.

“Jim is a passionate, caring individual who will be greatly missed at Alberta Soccer, but we know he will thrive at the next level as Canada Soccer continues to roll out new Coach Education initiatives,” continued Lowther. “We are proud that he has been identified as a prominent leader to assist Canada Soccer in improving the stature of our game from “coast to coast” and we wish him continued success.”
Congratulations, Jim!

Alberta Soccer will immediately begin the process of hiring a new Technical Director and anticipate the new hire to be in place by February 1, 2019.
