(August 30, 2019) This weekend will see the province’s top amateur senior teams competing at the Senior Provincial Championships in Edmonton and Calgary.
Hosted by CWSA, CUSA, and EDSA, the competitions will get underway this Friday and wrap up with the gold-medal matches on Monday, September 1. Dubbed “Soccer Fest”, the championships will feature 84 games between the 62 participating teams, all who are vying for the Provincial Title and in some cases, a shot at Nationals.
Winners of the Challenge Cup and Jubilee Shield, which feature teams from the Alberta Major Soccer League, will face other top teams from across the country at the Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships in St. John’s Newfoundland Labrador, from October 9-14. Teams finishing first in the Masters and Classics Major competitions will qualify to compete at the Western Men’s Masters Club Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan or Masters – Women’s Regional Club Championships in Quebec City, Quebec from September 19-22.
Alberta Soccer is pleased to welcome 82 games officials and nearly 1,500 players and coaches – plus their supportive spectators – to Soccer Fest in what will surely be a display of high-level soccer.
