RESPECT IN SPORT
Alberta Soccer has partnered with the Respect Group to provide online education courses for coaches, referees, and parents to help create a safe, healthy and positive environment for children and youth involved in soccer.
The Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders program is a minimum education standard for all coaches of youth soccer. This valuable program empowers coaches with the tools to support a positive and safe sporting environment. The Respect in Sport program is overhauled every 4 years with the latest update released in 2021, including:
- The Rule of Two
- Duty of Care
- Recognizing and responding to Bullying, Abuse, Harassment and Discrimination
- UCCMS
The online course costs $30 and the curriculum is divided into six modules, which takes approximately 2.5 hours, and can be completed at the user’s own pace. Once completed, certification is portable to other sports involved in Respect in Sport. For additional support and questions, please contact Stephan Moncayo.
The Respect in Sport Parent Program is a one-hour online module for parents/guardians, reinforcing their role in their child’s activities, encouraging positive sport behaviors, and providing insight into the various roles other individuals play, such as coaches and officials. This program empowers parents to ensure the safety of their children, encourage positive and effective communication, and to enhance a child’s overall enjoyment of soccer. The online course costs $12 and is transferable to other sports involved in Respect in Sport.
Respect in the Workplace was developed to provide organizations, of all sizes, with a standard, cost-effective tool to empower your team with the skills to prevent bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination (BAHD).
It’s about improving culture, first and foremost. The secondary benefit is organizational risk and liability reduction.
The Respect in Sport – Officials Program is the foundational, online training tool for Canadian Safe Sport, designed specifically for sport officials including, but not limited to: referees, umpires, judges, linesmen and lineswomen, commissaries, technical officials, starters, data specialists, timekeepers, and scorekeepers etc..
This program provides officials with the tools to protect the integrity of their sport and those who participate in it.
