(February 17, 2017) The Alberta Soccer Association Coach Education Department is pleased to announce the 2017 schedule for our Coach Licensing Courses and Evaluations. As in previous years, two C License Courses and one Provincial B License Course will be hosted over the Spring and Summer months. In addition to the three courses, Alberta Soccer is pleased to be offering three separate Regional C License Courses for coaches living in rural/remote areas.

The schedule will be as follows:

  • Regional C License Courses
  • Sunny South Zone *Those coaching in the Sunny South zone will have 1st priority when registering for this course
    • April 8 to 9 – Part 1, Lethbridge
    • May 27 to 28 – Part 2, Medicine Hat
  • Parkland Zone *Those coaching in the Parkland Zone have 1st priority when registering for this course
    • April 22 to 23 – Part 1, Red Deer
    • June 3 to 4 – Part 2, Red Deer
  •  Fort McMurray/NE Zone *Those coaching in the NE Zone have 1st priority when registering for this course
    • Dates TBC – Part 1 and 2 in Fort McMurray
  • C License Courses (open to all of Alberta)
    • Calgary – June 8 to 11
    • St. Albert – July 13 to 16
  • Provincial B License Course (Part 1) – open to all of Alberta
    • Edmonton – July 26 to 30
  • Evaluations
    • May 13 C/B Testing (Calgary)
    • June 17 C/B Testing (Edmonton
    • September 11 C/B Testing (Edmonton)
    • September 12 C/B Testing (Calgary)

The requirements for coaches to apply to the C License courses include:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Serious about coaching – preference given to coaches working with Tier I and II Players
  • Completion of Making Ethical Decisions (online course)

The requirements for coaches to apply to the B License course include:

  • Provincial C License Certification

Coaches must provide any documentation that proves that they meet these pre-requisites when they apply for their course. Once the coach’s application has been approved, coaches will receive an email with an agenda, course requirements and pre-course work details. All courses are non-residential programs with travel and accommodation being the responsibility of the candidate.
